Thank you from Honduras!

So do not start worrying: “Where will my food come from? Or my drink? Or my clothes? Your father in heaven knows that you need these things. - Matthew 6:31

This passage was driven home as we arrived safe in Honduras with NONE of our luggage.  Whether we were short lumber or roofing we found that the Lord provided for all of our needs.

What a blur the last 14 days were!  Our group of 65, built homes, conducted bible school, packaged and handed out food, distributed a bus load of clothes and toys, and delivered a mammography unit & medical supplies to the hospital.

While things seemed very hectic and disorganized when we were in the throes of work, as we step back to review, the Lord was able to accomplish a lot through your gifts and our hands.

The 18 houses we built were very basic, averaging about 18ft by 16ft and would be considered barely a tool shed here.  But they are a step up from shelters built of scraps, cardboard, and tin as in the picture.  The home owners excitedly helped build their new home!  Each was built in a day and was followed by a tearful prayer of thanksgiving by the home owners.   Torch plans to build 100 such houses this summer but has applications from more than 400 families…the need is GREAT.

The people stood in line for hours for the chance to see one of our 3 doctors.  They saw over 900 people in several communities and dispensed medicine to many.

We bagged staples from bulk (beans, rice, cornmeal, sugar, lard, etc.) along with a Bible for 180 families. Our distribution plans changed when the First Lady of Honduras helped us and personally handed out all the food along with a lot of clothes and toys in a remote village high in the mountains.  (We rode a bus—she a helicopter!)  As you can see your donations went straight to the needs of the people.

The last 2 days on the beautiful island of Roatan provided the opportunity to rest and reflect on what we had seen and experienced the previous 12 days.
