Cherokee, NC
We stayed at the Cherokee KOA this Memorial Day weekend. It is a great campground (KOA GOLD STAR rated). Some of the sites were a little too close to each other, but everybody was friendly. If you go, try to get a site towards the back. It's really nice around the back loop with plenty of shade. There are free KOA shuttles for tubing, shopping, horseback riding, etc. The Raven Fork River is on one side and three stocked trout ponds are on the other side of the CG. So if you like trout fishing this is the place. There is a nice pool, a huge hot tub, and nightly movies on a big screen. The bathrooms and showers were awesome. We never had to wait in line for a shower the whole time we were there. The Cherokee KOA can definitely expect a return visit from us.
