William J. Clinton (left), President of The United States, and Reggie Young, King of the Nashville guitar players and former mayor of Asmara, meet in Washington. Reggie was there playing for the Kennedy Center Honors award presentation to Johnny Cash. Mr. Clinton was there being President. Next time you see Reggie (or Mr. Clinton), be sure to shake the hand that shook the hand!
Reggie, in only slightly less glamorous times, wielding a mean axe on the stage of the Kagnew NCO Club, circa 1961 or 62.
![]() Hard at work in the 'salt mine' - Reggie, back in '84, at a Nashville studio during a recording session with country artist Eddie Raven.
Since his Army days Reggie has enjoyed a very successful life as a top-rated studio musician in Nashville, Memphis, Muscle Shoals, Atlanta, Miami, New York City, Los Angeles and other locations. His lead guitar licks have contributed to the success of such diverse talents as Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Herbie Mann, Petula Clark, Waylon Jennings, Elvis Presley, Dolly Parton, and Roy Orbison, to name but a few. You can see his musical biography, a listing of the albums that he has played on (including the stars he has worked with), and the songs he has written, on the AMG All Music Guide Web site.
