Hey, Ya Know What?

OK, I'm a loser. No post in nearly a week. I read Ern's reply to my post about Casey Clausen. It is quite obvious to me Ernie does not understand the game of College Football. I know he has a good grasp of the NFL because he is in my league fantasy league and has shown that he truly knows what is going on. I think that he is trying to extrapolate his NFL knowledge to the College game and they are different animals. Of course going 9-0 isn't all because of Clausen. That's a given. However, the QB handles the ball more than any other player on the field. Couple that with the hostile environments that are present in the college game when you go on the road and you see how key the QB position is. Yes, running backs make a huge difference, especially at Tennessee. But you have to realize the QB is the field general, the guy changing plays at the line, the guy who has to make sure his team is hearing the snap count. And he is doing all of this while fighting enough noise that Helen Keller might hear it. The perfect example of how important a QB is to his team is Notre Dame. They ain't got one, and they are headed toward a losing record. Put Clausen on that team, and they are much, much better and may go to a decent bowl.

*please note that I do not believe Clausen is the end all.
