While we are waiting to do our battle of the bands, I am gonna do a couple of lists myself. Today I will you give you my top 10 favorites. These artists are not listed because of importance or influence. I’ll do that list tomorrow. They are here because I have listed to them over the years and still like to a lot…
Honorable Mention: Eric Clapton, Run DMC, The Police, Aerosmith, Guns ‘n’ Roses
10. Jars of Clay – Either you like them or you don’t. I always have. I’m an acoustic fan and that is pretty much the kind of sound they have had with a few exceptions. Favorite Song? Love Song for a Savior
9. Fleetwood Mac – I remember listening to them with my Mom. They have a really nice blend in spit of the turmoil and love triangles. Favorite Song? Sarah
8. Foo Fighters – One of the few modern bands that is still simply straight ahead rock. Plus Dave Grohl is hilarious. Favorite Song? Everlong
7. Stone Temple Pilots – They were dissed for being a Seattle rip off, yet they have outlasted the Seattle bands in both popularity and longevity. Favorite Song? Interstate Love Song
6. The Eagles – I remember listening to these guys with my parents as well. They were accused of being overproduced, but what is wrong with your album sounding really good? Favorite Song? Desperado.
5. Jimi Hendrix – He is the reason I wanted to play guitar. ‘Nuff said. Favorite Song? Crosstown Traffic
4. Duran Duran – They look a little funny on this list huh? Well, of all the ‘80’s’ bands, they were the cream of the crop. Favorite Song? Save a Prayer
3. Huey Lewis and the News – One of my first big concerts as a kid. They are just a lot of Fun. Favorite Song? Jacob’s Ladder
2. Bon Jovi – See Yesterday’s post.
1. Led Zeppellin - A band for the ages. Rest assured they will be high on tomorrow’s list too. If you love rock, these guys are it. Favorite Song? Over the Hills and Far Away
With the exception of Zeppellin, this list could almost be in no particular order. It depends on the day I guess. And the honorable mentions could make their way into it depending on the day as well.
Tomorrow I'll do the list that all the hoity toity critics always do, 'cept better.
