Hey, Ya Know What?

I've been thinking about 100 Years by Five for Fighting since Mike posted the lyrics. I don't know if it's as cut and dry as he sees it. The first big thing that stands out is the first line. I'm 15 for a moment Caught in between 10 and 20. Think about how different you are from 10 to 20 years old. I don't know if there is a bigger change in us in any 10 year leap throughout our lives. Anyway, I found that very though provoking.

The song is really about how short and temporary life is. The songwriter sees how important each moment is, especially 'now'. Right now is only a moment. Folks, I hate to be a downer, but we ain't gonna live forever on this earth. Anyone one of us could be gone tomorrow, or in the next few hours, or even, gasp, in the next few minutes. Those of us who believe in and follow Jesus have life eternal to look forward to. But that doesn't mean we get complacent or paralyzed here on this earth. I'm only 31 for a moment, and what am I doing? Who am I touching? Am I a difference maker? It took the man in this song until his dying breath to realize how short life is. But he finally understood. That is a bit of a sad way for it to end, but there is a lesson there. Don't wait! If you are married, love your wife with everything you've got. If you have kids, make sure they know, without a doubt, who it is they can count on and can aspire to be like. If you are single, use your freedom to bless as many people as you can. We need to realize that our whole life is just a moment and see how precious every second of it is. How many have we all wasted?

If all of this sounds familiar, I have posted not too long ago some similar things concerning my church life. If you read this page, then you are friend. I ask that you think about this stuff very seriously. Don't read it and say, "That's really nice. I'm glad see to Rich is..." This isn't for me folks. I keep this blog up for those who read it. I want you to be up to date on my life, maybe entertained, and at times, I hope you will be moved to think about some things.

As always, love yuns...
