As for Magic and Nascar... Here is why he was chosen to help get more minorities invovled in Nascar. Magic was a great basketball player. He was the best at making everyone around him better. But after basketball, he became, dare I say, prolific in the business arena. The guy knows how to make connections, cultivate relationships, and make loads of money. Money. It takes a lot of that to break into auto racing. If anyone can help bring minorities into Nascar, he's the guy. Sure he screwed up real bad, made awful choices and ended with a hideous disease. But hey, we've all done as bad as him or worse. Fornication is on the same level as adultery, so let's be easy with our arrows. His wife forgave him. He says he asked God too as well. Her and God are the only ones important in the forgiveness equation. He doesn't need ours. He has, over the last few years, gained back a lot of respect. He took quite a hit and has come back well. I don't think anyone has told us to look up to Magic. If nothing else, we have witnessed a huge fall and a very graceful recovery. I read once that he is a Christian, and I really hope that is true.
