Wow, I never figured Steve to be a socialist. Free medical care like Canada? Are you kidding me? Do some research about that and you may change your mind. Compared to our medical system, it's a no brainer. Steve, you'd pay your 5 to 10% more in taxes, however, your health care would be light years from 'rock solid'. We do not want the government in control of our health care. Watch CSPAN sometime and tell me you want that bunch of jokers in control of life or death situations concerning your health.
If anyone I know should be crying for free medical coverage it should be me with my 4 kids. But I will not do that. We do have some 'free' medical coverage here in Tennessee. It's called Tenncare. You know what it's done? It's given us 10% in sales tax and a state income tax looming over our heads. The government is not and should not be our sugar daddy. Entitlements can be good thing for those how need to get back on their feet, but not a lifetime thing. (heck, I am ashamed to even be getting unemployment and it only short term) Universal Health Care would end up much the same way other entitlement debacles like welfare and food stamps have. Socialist policies do not work and they will not fix the real problem.
The high price of health care is not the insurance companies or the doctors. It's the consumers. There are so many crooked people out there suing for no reason that we all suffer. Until there is a fundamental change in the way people think and act, the problem will always be with us. Dishonesty has wrecked so many things and this is just another.
Steve, just be glad you have what you have and you can make the small percentage of payments owed. I have a lot left over from my kidney surgery and guess what, I can't even pay it. It's hard enough for me right now to keep on the lights and make sure we have food and somewhere to live. And if something does happen to one of the kids, I'm screwed. I'd not complain a bit about $15 dollar copay.
I hope I've not ticked anyone off, but I have a very different perspective and have at least earned the right to express my opinion.
