Half and Half...

Half and Half milk has always been a mystery to me. Mostly because I never made it a point to figure out what each half is....

Another ‘Half and Half’ out there today is also a little bit of a mystery to me. Politically, our country is split right down the middle. Since the end of the election, the Anti-Bush folks think that the end is upon us. They are miserable and hate Bush with a passion unequaled in American politics. But here's the thing, if Kerry had won, the Pro-Bush folks would be saying the exact same thing. This is just amazing to me. What is even more amazing is this. I think most of us know that no one man in the American Presidency is going to send us down the road to destruction. The road to destruction starts with each and every one of us.

I am also sick of hearing and reading all of the stereotypes that out there right now (see blogdom, michael moore, conservative radio). Are all conservatives racist? Are all liberals for gay marriage? Come on people, surely, if we put our thinking caps on we know that is not the case. I will tell you a couple things in common though that saddens me. There is hate on both sides. There is intolerance on both sides. But, there are some things on each side that are encouraging. There is love on both. There is compassion to be found on both as well. I truly hope the bitterness dissipates. But, looking at history and fallen man, I am realistic in knowing that much of it will remain.

BTW, I have friends on both 'sides' and I love them equally. And I will continue to do so. That is what I can do as much or more than Bush or Kerry could or do. It doesn’t take one man, a President, to change who we are or how we act. What it does take is one who came to this world as God in the form of man.

Anyway, I just had to get that off my chest. Oh yeah, turns out that Half and Half Milk is half milk and half cream. Who'da thunk it?

  • Good 'un! Nice lead in with the 1/2 & 1/2 bit - you milked it nicely. ;-)

A great reminder to be gracious. Yes, good & godly people are on "both sides" & both sides need to remember that. You CAN love Jesus & be Blue or Red,
but if you hate Red or Blue, where is the love of God in that (see 1 John 3 & 4)?
