...let me build a bridge, For I cannot fill the chasm...

Ok, Mr. Price, you've got me looking at some of my old poetry. Derek Webb once wrote...

I ran across an old box of letters
While I was baggin up some clothes for Goodwill
You know I had to laugh that the same old struggles
That plagued me then are plaguing me still

I wrote this poem over 10 years ago. Later, when things were better, I thought I'd never feel that way again. Ha! I've had some days over the last little bit. So, here ya go.

This Fortress

This Fortress.
It holds me.
Gripping,
Vice-like.
Torturing me,
with hope yet unfulfilled.
I can't get free.
Why must I be constrained?
Held.
I want a field.
Not a Fortress.
Acceptance not rejection.
This Fortress.
It holds Me.

I'll try and post something a little happier tomorrow. :)

  • Caedmons Call's "Thankful" has long been one of my favorite songs. Pretty much sums it up!
ps. While you are posting poetry, how about a little "Cinammon Gum"?
