.....
I am suspending the song lyrics for one post. I have a couple things to mention.
Reggie White. I was shocked as I drove home from church yesterday and heard that Reggie had gone to be with the Lord. I didn't know him personally, but I was acquainted with him. We went to the same small inner-city church in Knoxville. Well, when he wasn't in Green Bay wreaking havoc on NFL QB's. He was a great player and as you have heard many times the last 2 days, a greater man. He loved the Lord and never missed a chance to share with others what Jesus did for him. When he spoke in church, it was never of fame and fortune. It was always of his heavenly father. A few years back, there was a string of black churches across the south that were firebombed and had racial slurs painted on the walls. This small church was one that was hit. Reggie and a few other Packers gave the money to the church to rebuild. He, along with our pastor and a couple of business men started a loan program for families who had never owned their own home and couldn't get a loan the conventional way. You'll find story after story about the great things he did for his family, his church, and his community. He'll be sorely missed by his family and pray for their comfort.
The tsunami that has devastated much of southern Asia is such a tragic story. There will be so much loss of human life when all is said and done. The pictures that are coming back of the aftermath are just gut wrenching. Please don't forget to pray for the people in this part of the world. We have many brothers and sisters over there and need to remember them as we pray.
