an ode to my favorite coin

a penny for your thoughts
it won't buy me much
a penny's just one cent
i have no time for such

nickels are ok
they can be shiny and silver
but at 5 cents a pop
they'll never make an arcade game quiver

dimes are really cool
they're small and very thin
but to get a dollar
it takes ten of them

half dollars are sweet
but they aren't easily found
susan b. anthony has a dollar
but it hardly looks round

silver dollars are neat
but feel funny in my pocket
sacagawea on a coin?
shouldn't she be in charbonneau’s locket?

wanna make me happy?
wanna give me the coin that rocks?
give me a quarter
no! fill up a pair of socks!

it's the greatest coin of all
four of them yields a dollar
forty give you 10
four hundred would make me hollar

George Washington would be proud
were he not in past tense
he graces the greatest coin
and he's worth 25 cents
