--------Wsearch Software and NIST
Search-------
(Updated July 2001)
Frank Antolasic at RMIT in Australia has modified his programs, Wsearch to
use the NIST search software. He has
three programs available. A Wsearch16,
a Wsearch32, and a Pyrosearch. I
recommend the Wsearch32 for processing GC-MS
files. I haven’s used Pyrosearch.
His program can process HP.d, netCDF, and other file formats. A
background-subtracted spectrum is very easy to obtain. The user can then
"double-right-click" on the spectrum (see example of Wsearch16 or Wsearch32)
to automatically search it with the NIST (see example)
search program. A free
copy of his program can be obtained from his Web site. If
you don't have
a copy of the NIST software, you can obtain a demo copy that has only a
few restrictions at:
http://www.nist.gov/srd/nist1a.htm and http://chemdata.nist.gov/
Or directly at
ftp://chemdata.nist.gov/download/nistdemo32.exe.
I wrote some user instructions for
using Wsearch and NIST Search. In addition,
the NIST software includes very good documentation (Ver20man.doc file).
Downloading Tips: Some information is in Acrobat Reader (pdf)
format.
Some browsers can read them directly if Adobe Acrobat is installed. If you want
to
save a document to your disk, "right click" instead of "double
clicking" with left
mouse button. This will allow you to "save target as" which will
write the file to
your disk. Either way, you will need Adobe Acrobat and/or WinZip. Links to
download
these programs are listed below:
Download Winzip Win95/WinNT version.
