The 2004 Fun Fest Pet Dog Show |
It was time for the Fun Fest Pet Dog Show again. Paris Lynn had a brand new
tutu in Fun Fest colors. |
Chessy and Bob the Tail had a new bowtie. |
Lily Ruth Fluff and Barney both had new blue bandanas. "I fink I'll stay home
an' take care of the Barnster," Lily Woof woofed. |
"We can play checkers or sumfin thereabouts," Barney yapped. Last year some
kids had tried to feed Lily Ruth some milk bones that she can't digest.
Playing checkers would be much safer Barney thought. |
"Be sure to say 'World Peace' during your interview with the judges," Lily Ruth advised
Paris Lynn. Lily had watched a lot of beauty pageants on TV, and she
knew that was important. "World peace, world peace, world pees!" Paris Lynn chanted as she walked in the backyard with her brother and sister. "Yikes!" Chessy yelped. "Not world pees. That's what you told the judges last year." Paris Lynn blushed till she looked like a RHT. |
Several hundred dogs had gathered at Borden Park for the pet dog show. In the
pen next to Paris and Chessy were her hubby Shandy and his sheltie siblings. |
First Chessy competed in Handsomest Male. Butt (his is bobtailed) even with
his new bowtie and wagging tail, the judges didn't notice him. Paris Lynn straightened her frilly bandana before Prettiest Female. She had a plan. After taking a few steps, she yapped, "Susiemom, carry me! I am lame! I have stepped on sumfin with my spotted dotted front paw!" |
"World peace! World pees! World peas!" Paris yipped loudly from her perch in
Susiemom's arms. But even though the judges could see her better than down
in the grass, she didn't get a ribbon. |
Her friend Mystery did a speech about trying to win for 12 years and not ever winning.
She got a red ribbon. Was Paris jealous? Maybe a little.
Look at her tongue...hee hee! |
Next was the costume contest. Chessy dressed as Fun Festus, the sun man mascot
of Fun Fest. "I'll be Fun Chestus!" Chessy beamed from his sunny yellow
costume. Paris Lynn wore her tutu, and Susiemom dressed as a hot air balloon.
Riding in the basket was a teeny baybee corgi in a tutu that matched
Paris Lynn's. |
Paris Lynn adjusted her hairbow and Bob the Tail wagged as they paraded around the
ring amongst the other dogs in costume. |
"At least we made the cut," Chessy sighed happily as Bob the Tail bobbed along.
"That just knocks the wind out of me!" Susiemom the Balloon said breathlessly. |
"Whirled peas! Whirled peas!" a little skunk faced ballerina yipped at the
top of her lungs. "That's world peace," Chessy reminded her, rolling his eyes to see around his sunbeams. "Maybe next year we'll win a ribbon. Butt (remember Bob!) like the sign on the hot air balloon says, 'Fun Fest is tutu much fun'!" |

The little girl at left, Babee (corgi/cattledog mix), is looking for a family of
her own. She was running through the crowd at Fun Fest making friends.
She's listed on Petfinder in TN. |
