Herding Fun Day
and the
Herding End Stink Test
The closest we had ever been to a sheep was to lay on a fleecy.....
or to herd our sheltie friend Spense, who dressed up as a sheep for Lily Woof Fluff's birthday party.
First Chessy the Bobtail and Bob (his tail) got introduced to the sheep.  Chessy loved the sheep, and Bob wagged and wagged.
Chessy watched the other corgis take the herding instinct test.  He could hardly wait for his turn!
"Yeeeeeee Haaaaaa!" Chessy woofed as he zigged and zagged after the sheepies.
Lily Ruth woofed and woofed, as was her usual custom.  The sheep ran ahead of Lily as her fluffy skirt bounced in the breeze.
"So you're the black sheep of the family!" Lily woofed loudly.
"I may be old and stiff, but I can still make you move!" she woofed to the sheep.
"...and don't dare call me an orange dustmop again!" Lily woofed at the top of her fluffy lungs.
While Chessy and Lily worked the sheep, Paris Lynn worked the crowd, climbing from lap to lap to snuggle with the humans.
When it was finally her turn, she ignored the sheep and stood proudly in the middle of the barn modeling her latest sheep print bandana trimmed with blue lace.
"Help stamp out nekkid corgis!" Paris Lynn yapped happily.
Judge Vivian tried everything to get Paris Lynn interested.  She brought out her corgi Deco to help, but Paris Lynn was more interested in Deco's nice bandana than in the sheep.
"No thank you, ma'am," Paris Lynn barked.  "I have studied sheep carefully, and I don't need to take a test to tell you that their ends stink."  And with that she stomped off leaving Deco and the sheep and the bewildered humans standing in the sawdust.
As Paris Lynn's humans shrugged and sighed, Barney the Corgihuahua had found hisownself a cow to herd.  With lots of short walkies, long naps, and plenty of chicken McNuggets to eat, 15 yr. old Barney had as good a time as anybody!
